Here come the pictures!!! Sursa Shawl, Favorite Carry-All Bag and New Amy Butler Bag! October 1, 2007

Filed under: Knits, Reverie — Lady KnK @ 1:39 am

In preparation for the day that I finally get on that one site that starts with an “R”, I’m starting to play with Flickr.  There are a lot of widgets and plug-ins for my Wordpress software, but I’m trying to take baby steps right now.  So let’s see how this goes….

First up - I finally have pictures of my Sursa Shawl.  Yeah.  I found the pattern during my search for the Klaralund Pattern.  It was in the same book and I decided that I liked the Shawl better.  I made it with 8 skeins of Noro Silk Garden in 87.  The pattern called for 5 or so, but I matched my two strands, so it took a bit more and mine is just a tad bigger than the instructions.  The ruffle is made out of 4 skeins of Noro Cash Iroha in color 101.  I love it and recommend that all knitters make one.  It is very easy and you could use just about any yarn.  It is a project that you make anywhere, because there isn’t any counting.  Pay no attention to the model, but do check out the cool Gita Marie Sheep Shawl Pin!

Now here is my progress on my version of the Kristin’s Favorite Carry All.  I’m 44 rows in!  Half way through the pattern.  I’m using Cascade Pastaza in Black, Coral and Cream.  No Cream yet.  I’ve charted the pattern in Excel.  Email me if you want instructions on how to do that.  I’m trying to get a KAL going with the group at Four Ladies.  Please join in!!!

I also got a cool new knitting bag at Funk in the City.  It was a great buy and is made from Amy Bitler Fabric in greens and orange.  Love it!!!  And I didn’t have to make it!!

Oh, and as promised… My latest obsession… Beaded Stitch Markers…  Horrible pictures, but I tried.

Whew, lots of pictures.  Time to get back to knitting.

Top 8 Reasons my Saturday was Super Awesome… September 22, 2007

Filed under: Knits, Reverie — Lady KnK @ 9:40 pm
  1. As always, I’m super smokin’ hot, so life is easier for me.
  2. The Ladies of KnK woke me up.  Happens everyday, but still awesome.
  3. I learned to make stitch markers!!!  Captain Charity Kidd taught me.  Awesome teacher.  Great selection of beads.  Check out her tutorial pics here.  Dread Pirate Vane was there too sporting a chic red beret that she just completed in red baby cashmerino.  I wasn’t quick enough to grab a picture, but will try to get a link to one. Anyone want to make a trip to the Bead Place in IL with side stop at the Polish Pottery Store AND maybe a knitting store…. not the one with the Silence of the Lambs feel?
  4. The knitting clubhouse is becoming a reality!!!  Pam at Four Ladies is expanding out the store.  Knitters across Southern Indiana rejoice!
  5. Did some charity work for the Humane Society.  Got to hang out with an old friend that I miss.  Ended up covered in sugar.  Pretty much always happens to me.  Check out their booth at the Fall Festival!!!
  6. Wore my new awesome Rocket Dog shoes… sorry no pics yet.  Think Mary Engelbreit ballet flat tennis shoes.
  7. My husband is home, so my life is back in balance.  Mad Mary Flint - note that he is leaving again in November and I’m totally freaked out by this.  For those of you not in the know - I become a child when my husband leaves.  Completely unable to cope and MMF has to deal with me.  Left to my own devices, I don’t eat (except for cookies) and I stay on the computer all of the time.  He doesn’t actually take care of me when he is here though.  I just need him here or things just aren’t right.  Yes, I can’t live without him.
  8. Gotta head off to a party now…  I’m such a socialite today.

Where are Pirate Comments from my two blog readers? And yes another quiz September 20, 2007

Filed under: Knits, Reverie — Lady KnK @ 3:06 am

I couldn’t't draw you in with the pirate quiz!!!  I did have three people email me with their pirate names directly.  Thank you Mad Mary Flint, Dread Pirate Vane and Iron Bess Rackham!!!  Since it technically still be talk like a pirate day…  Be sure to check out the Knit Like a Pirate website - Knit Like a Pirate

How about a Knitting addiction quiz?

And my results:

“You scored 75%.  You have the optimum level of addiction; beginning knitters strive to be you! You’d  knit almost anywhere and anytime, but there are times and places where even you know knitting is not permitted.  Like, maybe, a wedding or a funeral.  Tell your family they don’t have anything to complain about.”

See I don’t have a problem!!!  Now post your results or I’ll send my pirates after you.

Oh, what could make me come out of blogging retirement? September 19, 2007

Filed under: Ladies of KnK, Knits, Reverie — Lady KnK @ 2:25 am

I know the cold hard fact.

I AM THE WORST BLOG UPDATER EVER!

I have been riding the waves of success from the Fair Win and have just returned from my world tour.  What could inspire me to post?

  1. My husband is out of town.
  2. I’m procrastinating from cleaning the house
  3. The new KNITTY has a Nancy Marchant pattern!!!!

If you are not familiar with Nancy, she is a super awesome knitting designer AND Hoosier native.  I’ve met her, took a class from her AND she witnessed the awesome power of my Grand Champion win at the 4-H Fair.  Check her new Brioche Beret out here:  http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall07/PATTpecanpie.html

Even better she has a new website http://www.briochestitch.com/

I am currently working on way too many projects.  I need to focus AND get photo editing software on my PC to share pics.

The Ladies of KnK are currently bored with just me around and they really miss their daddy.  If you are out there - Good night.  We miss you.  Bring us presents.  Preferably yarn.

Keep on knitting!!!

Confirmation… I’m a winner!! July 29, 2007

Filed under: Knits — Lady KnK @ 5:13 am

I saw it for myself and confirmed.  Kibbles-n-Knits won a First Place Blue Ribbon for Knitted Garments and a Grand Champion Purple Ribbon at the Fair.  What more could a girl want?  Bigger news..  KnK representatives actually attended the fair.  Despite our camera being down, the paparazzi were in attendance and provided photos.  The Lord of KnK was a good sport about me receiving all of the paparazzi limelight, but he deferred from posing for pictures.  He didn’t want to be seen as just arm candy and he is still trying to figure out how much this win will cost him.  I’m planning to have a huge monument built to ”The Win” in the knitting room of the KnK Palace.

2007 Fair SweaterLady KnK at the Fair

After a long 10 day absence from knitting, I joined up with some knitsters at Four Ladies.  Quite fun, got to see Nancy Marchant.  She is a Hoosier native now living in Amsterdam and a very talented designer.  Never know who you will run into when you go knitting.  Knitting buds have dreams of quilting AND making socks.  Ten days away and they are cooking up plans. If we are going to stray into other crafts… then somebody has to teach me to sew!

Started on a new project.  Using Noro Silk Garden, again.  This time in #87 with Cash Iroha #101.  I’m making the Sursa Shawl pictured below.  I’d show the progress, but camera is broken.  You will have to wait for me to finish and I can publish the paparazzi pics of me wearing it.  I tried changing up the pattern twice, but I went back to the original edging.

Changed up the site a bit.  Still trying to figure out if I like it. Let me know what you think.

I’m back, but the rumors of illusions of grandeur are still unconfirmed…. July 28, 2007

Wondered where the Lady of KnK has been?  Playing with Mickey and Minnie in Disney.  Buying yarn in Tampa.  Stuck at an IBM conference.  Partying with .38 Special and 1000 Geeks.  Oh, and evidently I won A Grand Champion Title at the Fair for my Central Park Hoodie.  You know the normal things for a geek knitter.

Greetings from EPCOT and the Beach!!

Found the Klaraland Pattern!!!  Bought the book… then found another pattern that I liked for a shaw and bought the yarn for it instead.  Gonna check out an alternative pattern to Klaralund at Four Ladies . Keep you posted.  My camera is down, so I apologize for the phone pics of my new yarn.  It is Noro Silk Garden in #87 - The Rainbow Colorway!!!  and a Green Cash Iora.

I’ve missed knitting with the buds on Thursdays and have to see my two blog followers soon!!

Unitl next time…  Keep on Knitting.

My mission… Klaralund July 17, 2007

Filed under: Knits — Lady KnK @ 6:20 pm

So, I’m back and blogging. Well at least for the last 16 hours or so. To bring you up to speed. I’m still obsessed with dogs and knitting. Hence the title kibbles-n-knits. I’m obsessed probably more with the acquisition of yarn more than anything. A friend/”pusher of obsessions” has me a bit side tracked on the idea of sewing… but once again, I’m probably more obsessed with searching for fabric. But I have a new quest in addition to all previous quests…

Klaralund!

I must possess this pattern and the yarn. I love Silk Garden and Stripes! Google it, you will love it too. I know, I know. All you experienced knitters have already see and/or done this sweater. Everyone else google it and fall in love. Now those of you who know me might ask…

Q: What about that other project you are doing with Silk Garden? Are you going to finish it?
A: Yes and soon, so I need another.

Q: Don’t you have a house full of yarn?
A: Be quiet or I will stip blogging again.

Anyway… anyone knitted this sweater before? I’ve found lots of post on it, but was wondering if any of the 2 knitters that read this site had come across it.

Attention Chris and Karen!!!!
